Property

Melacol is a food supplement based on polyphenolic extract of PGI Annurca Campanian apple (Annurcomplex ^® ) and dry olive extract which promotes lipid metabolism.

A retrospective observational study conducted at the Surgical Department of the University of Modena on patients with mild to moderate hypercholesterolemia treated with Melacol highlighted a reduction in total cholesterol (TC) and LDL and a reduction in cardiovascular risk indices .

No adverse effects were reported throughout the duration of treatment.

The benefit on lipid metabolism was determined by the combination of the two extracts through the regulation of cellular oxidative stress and the uptake of cholesterol molecules.

    Recent studies show that the polyphenolic fraction (mainly flavonoids) of the apple is responsible for beneficial effects on health including:

• Olive dry extract titrated at 20% oleuropein , a molecule with marked anti-radical activity against oxidized LDL cholesterol, much more marked than other antioxidant molecules, including vitamin E. Oleuropein also has the claim of being a regulator of plasma concentrations of TC, LDL cholesterol and HDL cholesterol.
